tricks and treats...

We have been enjoying this time of fun...of costumes and goodies and stories on a blanket outside. I, for one, have been learning a lot about the history of "Halloween"...perhaps I can write more on that later. Right now...I just thought I should fulfill my duty of sharing the joy of these little "critters" with all of you! The day before Halloween, I took the babes to Mother Nature Farm to do a little exploring and to pick out their very own pumpkin. Journey allowed me to dress her up in her fairy butterfly cuteness for the farm. Because a farm is a perfect place for a fairy butterfly...don't you think?
On Halloween...trick or treating we went! Asher really got the hang of things. I remember last year, he was completely confused. I think it was the very first time he tasted chocolate...oh my goodness...heavenly! But this year...he was no longer the rookie...and he took to it all like a pro...even saying "fick o feet" each time he rang the doorbell! Journey just enjoyed the galavanting around,...mama's sweet milk is the only treat she got this year! We have had Asher's costume for a couple of weeks now...so he has worn it several times out and at play in the home. Each time he puts it on...he is equally as excited as the first time...and that makes me very happy! He never even changed his mind about what he wanted to be...besides a short lived decision to be a kitty cat...and you might not be able to tell...but this isn't just a spider...it is a LION pretending to be a spider (he made sure to correct me when I first put on the costume and called him a spider). And although this is probably the most fluffy and adorable of all spiders on earth...don't let Asher in on that. He likes to think of himself as a "scary" spider...and he likes to imagine all the delightful ways he will scare whoever it is he visits next.
We had a good night...although I did realize what work it is (for both me and the babes) to go visit even just a couple of houses by car. Next year...something less "mobile", perhaps? What are some of the traditions that you all do?? We visited family...and ended up putting aside plans to go to a carnival...instead deciding to stay at Nonnie and Papa's house where there was warm chili and cornbread to eat and new Halloween books to read and a couple of houses that were urging us to ring their bells for a treat!
Hope your Halloween was just as lovely!

Oh Jess that bottom picture of asher is soooo sweet. I just want to grab him and give him a big squeeze. He looked so cute in his spider costume. And of course their is that absolutely precious little butterfly. I don't think she can get any cuter.

What a great day of fun. I agree with Cory, the picture of Asher on the bottom is just so precious! Glad everyone had a good (but tiring) time. Hope the Lion still enjoys being a spider for a while to get use out of that adorable costume!

This little Butterfly far surpasses the butterfly exhibit I saw at the Botanical Gardens! And the spider....woooo so scary!
