sunshine

Jo-Jo began her venture into walking last month. She has been toddling for a few weeks now...and this past week has marked the point where she no longer crawls anywhere...she wants to get up on both legs and give it a go...no matter how many times she may fall. She is very determined...and she approaches it all in a way that inspires me. Sometimes I look at her and have this picture of her talking with herself, saying..."I know what I am doing...I just need my body to catch up with me."...and so it finally has...and she is exploring her world in a whole new way. One that I am very excited for her about!
She also has a mouthful of teeth...6 to be exact, and two that are making their ways through at the moment. And, either I am raising a small vampire...or I taste absolutely divine...because the girl cannot stop biting me. She also likes to take nibbles of little babies...but she mostly just prefers me... every part of me that she can get her mouth on...and I have never dealt with a biter...so I am not sure the best way to go about redirecting her. At the moment, my attempts at it all are just making her laugh. For some reason, me saying NO NO in a stern voice is just absolutely hysterical. Who knew? So...dear friends...do any of you have any suggestions with this? It does get a bit tiring...a child trying to cling to you with six teeth all day long...and I don't want to be in a situation where my little one has left her teeth marks on the innocent and beautiful flesh of a small baby...so I am up for any tips if you have them. Can you see her teeth in this pic above? So cute, aren't they??? Oh, and no worries about nursing...she knows that when she bites me THERE, the delicious milk is taken away...smart cookie, this girl. I love learning all the unique things about her that each new discovery brings. Her response to each development somehow holds both surprise and predictability. I kind of see that in her...like how she handles the pain of cutting teeth with clinging and the need for extra love...and then once they are in, she will use them to bite you every chance she can get. It think we are in for quite a ride with this little love bug. I wouldn't have it any other way.

she is so amazingly beautiful!! i don't have much suggestion on the biting thing! eli bit dylan a few times, eric took care of it (without consulting me) by biting him back on the finger just enough for him to feel it. i have to say i was NOT happy about this, but he never did it again! i think the main thing, is they really have no clue what it feels like on the recieving end, but it does kind of feel neat to have that squishy skin between their new little teethers. sorry i couldn't be more helpful! good luck, and seriously she's beautiful!

I've noticed ever since Journey started to walk that she took off walking way before her feet and legs knew what she was doing! :) But it seemed to work for her and finally her little "gumby" legs and feet have got it all together very nicely! She's always seemed very "not concerned" with the outcome each time. Taking the falls in stride and getting up to do it again.
She is going to be quite the little "journey".

I just love those pictures of Journey. She is growing up so much! I had a little biting problem with Josie. The biting back idea was given to me, but I couldn't do it. I just seperated myself from her when she did it. I would say no and nothing else. I think it was her way of trying to get more attention. Luckily (for everyone else) she only bit me, no other kids or adults. That is what worked for me. She grew out of it really quick though. Good luck! I would love to get you those clothes soon. Let me know when you are free! :)

Journey is so beautiful. Every picture you capture of her is so sweet. I am going to bite her cheeks next time I see her...maybe then she will stop biting you! I just love those chubby cheeks. You and Josh sure do have gorgeous children.

so darling - what a beauty! seems like we are in the same boat most of the time with our girls, I had to stop nursing - the biting got so bad but Ashlyn hasn't bitten anyone besides Blake and I and only if we stick our fingers in her mouth to get "stuff" out! best of luck

Jo-Jo, You melt my heart!
I don't know nothin' about birthin' or raisn' a baby...but it is logical to me...that she's just expressing herself! When she learns how to talk she will realize a new way to "chew the fat"! I didn't even have to read Dr Spock to know this!!!
