30 Days::Day 9

I had to take a small break in my posts. We just got home last night from a day of snowboarding on this beautiful mountain. Oh how I love this mountain, even if it gave me a pretty good beating. After all, it had been a good 5 years since I was last on a snowboard. 5 years! It showed...I spent more time on my bootie than I would have preferred. This morning, my body is speaking to me loud and clear; "ummm...the next time you want to do something like that, a little excercise first might be nice!". Yes, no matter how many teaspoons of chia seeds I ate (because I wanted the endurance of an aztec warrior), or how many handfuls of dark chocolate covered goji berries I inhaled (because well...their de-lish)...by the end of the day there was a huge disconnection between what my mind was informing my body to do and what my body was actually doing. Not even a few good spankings from mother earth herself were defeating my body's rebelion. I was clearly so out of shape.
But, it was serious fun! The kind of fun that is so worth a few sore muscles.

so glad you two were able to whisk away and spend some time in a place that has great memories.....and apparently some equally hard lessons :)

It sounds like you had a great day. I am so glad you enjoyed yourself. You needed a little bit of a break! I am just glad that break was not in any bones! :)

I do believe this is the same mountain I took my first and last ski lessons. You know the phrase "I've fallen and I can't get up"? I wiped up just about the whole ski run with my body! I never had the desire or will to ever try it again.

wow...it looks just gorgeous!!!
i can totally relate to the "body speaking loud and clear" part...it took me a week and two massage appointments to get over a dog-sledding expedition we did in january...i woke up the day after and lying there next to my husband i'm like.."we are soooooo old!!!" ;-)
i'm so glad you had such fun...might as well make the most of this winter weather!!!

If I am not mistaken that is the San Francisco Peaks at Flagstaff; one of my favorite mountains. I love seeing its snow covered peaks miles before you ever get to it when you are driving to Flag. Many Many years ago before snow boads were ever invented (I think it was in the 1950's we went to the slopes of the peaks to slide down their snow covered sides on blown up automobile innertubes and large pieces of cardboard. I believe your mama and Uncle Kenny when they were just kids were with us. It least I remember youngsters with me and Grandma before we really were a Grandma and Grndpa. It was great fun.

It was only a couple of years ago that I rode the ski lift to the top of the peaks for the first time. Of course, it was in the summer but was still a thrill for me to be up that high and see all the beauty below me.

I am glad you and Josh had the opportunity to get away for this special time and leave the children with Kim and Bryan.

Love, Grandpa

Oh, I haven't been to Flag in so long! It looks beautiful. But for me, it would be a great place to cozy up next to a fire with a good book and something hot to drink! I don't think my body would make it through the damage that would be done as I tried to get down the mountain on a snowboard!! :)
Glad you had a good time!

How fun! The first time I tried skiing I fell getting off the ski lift - yup... they had to stop it so that it didn't knock my head off - lol.

chia seeds - I didn't know this was sold online... my old neighborhood botanica (I'm not sure what the word is in English - it's not a drug store, but they sell spiritual amulets, healing herbs, etc) always had these with an aztec warrior baring his chest proudly!

(((HUGS))) to you warrior woman!

:-D

Love,
me

Jess,

Oh, how I hope you don't mind that my new template looks more like yours. I was playing around and discovered that Minima had a "stretched" template, and it only came in white. It'd been bothering me how narrow mine was, so, vwahlah! Probably no need to explain, but I feel better having done so. :) Lots of love and thanks for the comments and understanding. As to Lars and The Real Girl, it is one of my most favorite movies, and I bet you would love it!
